Description: Divya Desa Vaibhavam Thirukkadigai (Sholingar) - Sri U. Ve. Velukkudi Krishnan Swamy

Thirukkadigai (Gatikachala in Sanskrit) is a Narasimha Kshetra and one of the 108 holy Vaishnava shrines. The Kshetra is also known as Cholasimhapuram or Sholingar. There are two sanctums one atop the hill where Moolavar Sri Narsimha sits in a yogic posture. Saptha Rishis performed penance on this mountain and the pleased Lord appeared before them for the shorts duration of one Ghatika (24 minutes) and so the mountain is named based on this. A devotee attains salvation if the stays in this mountain for a ghatika period and has darshan of Sri Narasimha. Thousand of devotees throng this shrine during the tamil month of kartigai especially on Sunday. It is also believed that a visit to this sthalam will cure many diseases and mental disorders. The second sanctum in inside the town housing the festival deity, Bhaktochita or Akkarakkani perumal. The divine consort is Amruta phala valli Thayaar. This town and deity have been established and nurtured by one Sri Doddayacharya Swamy who live in the 16th century.

The Anjaneyar on the smaller hill here is also seated in yogic posture. Yoga Anjaneya has four hands and holds the divine discus and conch, it is believed that a holy dip in the Hanuman theertha would curu diseases.
 

The religious discourses of Sri U.Ve Velukkudi Krishnan are a montage in scholarship. His lecturers are of unparalleled caliber being governed by the three most important factors that define any discipline substance, soul and spirit. The Vidhwan is a personification of erudition with his stupendous study of the Bhagavadh Githa, Upanishads, the 4000 Prabandhams of the Azhwars, Srimad Bhagavadhams and generally all the vaishnavite Upanishads. His achievements as a leading Upanyasam Exponent justify his discussion. He has traveled widely both within India and abroad, where, apart from presenting lectures, he has conducted workshops and seminars for students on how to harmonize materialism with spiritualism. He has authored the books, “Kannanin Mungalil Ezhu”, and “Naan Kanda Nallathu, Jeernodharana service to temples through various Trusts, building of a memorial in Kerala for the Kulasekhara Azhwar and Sri Pillai Lokacharya at Kodikkulam, supporting patasalas for Vedas and Divyaprabhadams, conducting yatras to all holy places throughout the country and financial assistance to deserving students in the lower strata for the higher education are some of his ennobling efforts for the betterment of society.
